    Base layer options

One of my leases was put on MLD this year so I am still hunting. With the cold weather I broke out the thermal stuff. I haven't bought any in a lot of years and expect there have been improvements since I last bought any. Had a friend tell me about Cuddl Duds. I looked them up on Amazon and the price suits my frugal nature and they get a 4.7 star rating. Anybody ever try these?

Never heard of them. My only suggestion would be go with a wool product. They keep insulating even when wet, which has been huge. They also keep me cooler in warmer weather. I don't know how it works, but it does.

I won't buy another synthetic base layer ever.

They are supposed to be fleece lined, if I remember correctly, and wick moisture.

I duck hunt in this weather 19 degrees and 20 mph winds last sunday. I layer with Rocky thermal layers actually had 3 layers on legs and sweat pants, 3 layers (2 polar fleece) tops with Drake windstop pullover and drake waterproof insulated jacket......I've just accumulated over the years and lots of stores have all their winter stuff on sale and best time to buy. Academy was putting prices on when I was there but mens large were already gone. Sportsmans guide has been putting military polar fleece layers on sale. I do have a wool german army sweater pull over that is awesome and was cheap. Can get lots of deals on Sportsmans Guide for surplus cold weather gear at times.

Still hunting is going to be a little more active than sitting still.

I would go with some kind of wool that wicks moisture away from your skin

FYI just looked at Sportmansguide and options limited. Whatever you do avoid cotton and anything that retains moisture. Deer hunting options a lot more than duck hunting as far as bottoms go since I wear uninsulated waders. I loved bib overalls for hunting, kept cold from coming up my back and a balaclava for neck and head, it's what I wore duck hunting this week and if not that at least a neck warmer does wonders but couldn't find mine, wool, but balaclava is polar fleece.

I am still wearing my Under Armor ColdGear I got probably 20yrs ago. If it were to rip or wear out, I would buy another set.

Academy's Magellan brand base-layer stuff is good and affordable.

Anything will be better than cotton thermals. I like Camofire’s black Ovis 150g merino base layers. But I’ve got several synthetic tops and bottom and have hunted in zero degree and never felt cold

Merino wool for underlayer then some fleece over it to block the wind.

First Lite Furnace is the best base layer there is, IMHO!!!!!
But it might be a bit much if you are gonna be stalking. It is awesome if in a treestand or blind.

Glad I could help out. I actually hadn’t looked to see if they were listed today, but more times than not they have at least something listed from that collection.

i have the 1/4 zip and it’s my go to bc I can unzip if I get too hot or zip it up and have a mock turtle neck
