Booked 8 days outside Dolores CO for late July. I am going to look for parks on the route this week. I am getting older and have no desire to push more than 300 to 400 miles a day.

Will probably look for a couple of midweek trips in late May or June to tune up
Put Caprock Canyon Sp on your list if you haven't been there before. It looks to be in your desired range.

The buffalo herd on site plus the lake and canyon make it a nifty layover on your way to / from Co.

I appreciate the information about the sleeve. I ended up ordering one from Amazon, along with a suitable hitch lock.

I am still going to need to get a new everyday-use hitch anyway, but at least this way I don't have to get a new one with the sway bar ball.

Question about this thing: does it control the brakes on my truck at all, or just the brakes on my camper?

If it's just the camper does it require the brakes to be electronic, or will it work on regular old drum brakes?

Lastly, would I have to have one of those electronic braking control modules installed in my truck to use this? Or will it work on its own as it is.

It is for electric brakes on camper and nothing to do with truck brakes. It is the braking control module from the factory. hope this helps

Just got back from a Memorial Weekend trip to Lake Texana Park in Ganado. Love this park. Lot’s of space and good sites on the water.

That looks nice, Brian. I'd like to hear more about this since it is 45-50 minutes from the house. I've heard of bald eagles there.

Hey Bill! We love this place. It was a previous state park so it has large spots! Now county owned I believe. There are 2 parks on either side of the highway. Breckenridge Park and Texana Park. Plenty of sites and full hook ups on most. Lots of birds, deer, and actually saw some gators this weekend. They have a bird viewing area at a nature center also where they have a little covered area to sit with about 10 feeders within 10-20 yards. Right up your alley for pics of the birds. We sat for a little while and saw a lot of different species.

all the 120-140 sites are on the lake side and there is a good breeze with lots of trees for shade. This was site 127.

Here’s a link. Hope you and Cindy are well.

Brian, thanks a bunch. I started to book water ever were after seeing your post, but the boss said Wait. I'll have to look back now. I appreciate your response. We are good, and Cindy fully retired on April 1.

I have always been leery about the Airforce 1 system, now I have good reason. So sorry this happened to your rig!

Was there enough left to get any idea of how it failed?

Thanks! No, it was during COVID, and everything was shut down. The No. 1 lesson learned is to invest in a large fire extinguisher. The tiny, cheap ones they provide couldn't put out a match.

We spent memorial day in Matagorda at Harbor View RV Resort and it is a nice place. Had three 5th wheels and about 100 people who came and it was a good ol weekend.

The place has a very nice pool, huge bathrooms/showers, patio and grill, and an ice machine. Away from town but close enough to golf cart it in.

Now going to Port A in June and Rockport KOA in July with some splashway in between.
