Ready for a stretch of real winter temps?

It’s about 40 degrees here and if the forecast holds, that’s as warm as it’s gonna get until sometime Saturday afternoon. Low to mid 20’s overnights and as of now an 85% chance of “wintry mix” on Thursday. I’d rather not get an ice storm but I sure don’t mind a short stretch of real winter. (Or at least what passes for winter around here)

I thought we were but I’m not so sure now.

The wife and I made up a decent size batch of Carne Guisada yesterday, but about 80% of it has vanished. Mostly due to the kids. It shouldn’t get as cold here as it will up North though so we can cook something else if need be.

Other than that, fuel cans are filled and fresh oil in the generators just to be safe so I think we’ll be good down here.

The last freeze we got hammered in the Hill Country. No power for 15 days. Not again. We ready this time.
            Stay warm y'all.

It's certainly going to be a nice change...came late, but we'll take it.

Highs will range from mid 40's into the 70's for the next ten days. Finally getting some valley winter.

                Yep. Same here.

As soon as this snow storm passes I am headed back out with the muzzleloader. I took my pop up down last night so it wouldn't get crushed. I put a tarp down over the foot print, folded the pop up and put another tarp over the folded pop up.

I have two "shooting houses"..... that's Iowanian for box blinds....that I need to get finished. I have never hunted late muzzleloader since we moved up here. I am really enjoying it. The deer are piling into my brassica food plots late in the evening. So far nothing I wanted to shoot, but it's fun watching them and better than sitting at the house.

Hasn’t hit Montgomery yet. Was just now winterizing my plants and pipes in shorts and a t shirt. Could’ve worn shorts to Church this morning but thought better of it. Ha

                    It’s here in North Dakota!

Visiting ND for my dad’s 80th birthday and headed back to sunny warm Texas later today

Doesn't look to bad around here. Wind has a bite to it but only showing lows in the 20s and high around 50.

Front rolled through overnight. I checked weather before I went to bed around 11pm. It has passed Amarillo and was somewhere between canyon and Tulia. It was 60° at my house just outside Lubbock. It was 31° in Amarillo. Pretty dramatic difference.

Keep an eye on that winter storm potential at the end of the workweek. I20 from Midland to east of DFW could be a very treacherous stretch. I35 from southern OK to north Austin could be similar. Still some questions on track and intensity. But some ensembles had 6+” of snow between Abilene and West-O-Plex

And As soon as we get a reprieve, we go right back into the freezer early next week. Actually we may see this pattern the rest of the month
