They are very reliable period !

Anything can have problems and the user is half of it.

I agree we have 3 and all have performed well. The oldest a Little Buddy is 12 yrs old a d just started getting hard to light. Runs perfect once lit. I will say a few times we thought we had and issue and it was the 1 lb bottle. Have had a few over the years even full just wont work.

Which Mr. Buddy heater hose does not require a filter?

The 10′ buddy hose does not contain any plasticizers or oily contaminates that will leach out of the hose during high pressure propane flow. That is why that hose does not need a filter.

The new hoses don’t, problem was the rubber in the hose

Using after market hoses will cause issues.

I have 4 new ones. Used 1 month. 4 of 4 would not stay lit. Took aluminum line off to pilot and blew them out. ALL had clear oil in them from factory. Put them back together and no problems since. But I intend to contact the company and discuss it cause I shouldn't have to do that. 2 were on 20 lb. Bottles with hoses and one was only on green bottle so that wouldn't have made a difference i don't think.

I have two brand new ones; one works fine, one won't light. PITA!

strange to read the reviews here, we are about 12 years into using Buddy Heaters and I have had one fail in that time, we currently have 6 in use. some on little bottles and some on 5 gal bottles with a filter

No it,s a solid blue fame that,s whats bothers me. The thermocouple is very clean Smart but it could be bad. Bought a new one on sale and it,s way Better than the old one. Oh well can,t complain that is over 20 years old. Thanks Guys. Oh and I am using the 1lb. bottles.

Same here...I own 5 ....my lease has 14. I've had to repair several when some guys started running the big bottles without filters many years ago but other than an occasional small spider getting in the pilot light hole and a thermocouple, they have been money. I'm on year anywhere between 13 and 17 with mine. One thing that has helped everybody has been putting a small 1-1/8 sheetrock screw in the pilot light hole when not in use. It keeps any spiders out that hole. Its an easy fix if they do but its just a simple step to avoid it.

I have taken these things down to bare bones to get oil out of the line. Its an easy process if one has any level of patience.

we run 20lb bottle on all 5 of mine never had a filter and never had a problem with that. The striker goes out we just use a point and flame clicker and light it. Need to make sure you have air flow inside the unit. It you get a mouse nest inside or mud dobbers you will have issues. Clean it out. In the pic that Chew posted you will see the brass fitting that has a hole for air flow. That get spider nest and crap in it and will drive you nuts until you get it clean
