Are any west Texas wells powered by turbines?
I thought natural gas or diesel was used for the pump jacks.

Not sure why this show is called “landman”,
but I’ve only watched two episodes.

Turbines usually go in to the grid. The deal about O&G owning them for the pumping units is all drama. Not saying it's not happening some where but it's not the norm, especially for a small, independent.

The goal is to run PUs on electricity so you can use modern technology to start, stop, and control the unit. It's cheap and efficient.

If you can't get power they will use natural gas motors. We had some with the zz 502 big block Chevy motors that were set up for natural gas. They sounded bad azz when you loaded them up. 😄 A lot of the areas, especially in wtx, and these deeper resource plays have dirty gas that is very expensive to clean up and run through a motor.

You will some times see big diesel generators powering an electric motor until you can get power ran to your unit. It's very expensive. At $20-30k in diesel per month, it's not hard to justify the cost to run a line.

If you go out to wtx you will see thousands of miles of power lines running to all those little units.

Due to the language warnings, I was ready for my ears to be offended.
I guess since I work in a plant, I'm not hearing anything but people talking.

Trying to turn that switch off when away from work becomes a challenge some times.

(GD & JC are the two curse words not allowed to flow from my tongue, after that- yeah I've been guilty.)

Old Taylor is pretty smart. Have them do dumb stuff and people will promote your product far and wide by letting you know how dumb they are. Nothing like having people advertise your product for free.

Have to admit it gets me as well. Just words someone told you were bad at some point. We are loving the show, and Billy Bob is great. My favorite so far was when he said just an Ultra he quit drinking, then explains he'll have 6 of those and 6 whiskies the next day and bartender will see the difference. God's honest truth, and about how I approach things these days. If it's more than one, it's just a beer.
