Why do British Singers not have an accent when singing?

Speaking and singing come from different areas of the brain. Mel Tillis stuttered like crazy when he spoke, but he sang with no problem. Sometimes a stroke victim will have trouble speaking, but will be able to sing. I think the Congresswoman in Arizona that got shot in the head had that kind of thing early on in her recovery.

Some brits do. Enunciation is different when singing and im pretty sure it has to do with voice coaching like actors use to get something working for a role. Singing with a Cockney accent wont net you much profit

The Beatles did sing with an accent. Listen to the songs and you will clearly hear it....Yellow Submarine, Hard Days Night, etc....

Coldplay also has an accent in their songs along with U2 (earlier years).
