    Doe Killing

No do not get me wrong I love to kill bucks. But is anyone else like me. I love to kill a big ol skillet head, 4 down doe? I have 3 on my list. I think those big old does are just as wise or wiser than a big old buck. They get used to the pattern and know when you come and go. I tell my kids I want dumb slutty does around the blind not the old wise ones.

Years ago I told them if she blows she goes. (deer speaking keep your mind out of the gutter.. Family site here)

I totally can relate to you statement. My family eats a lot of deer. I personally love killing does because they eat good and I can leave the bucks for those who enjoy killing a buck more than me.

I had a tripod at our old place that was brushed in real nicely. Would have bucks feeding for an hour on the sendero 10 yds in front of me and at the feeder 25yds at my 3 o'clock. A group of old does would walk up the sendero opposite the pond (about 60 yds) and bust me EVERY time. Huffin and puffin and run everybody off. Finally brought a rifle one morning and "harvested" one further up the road before they made the clearing...

Yes. They do wise up all the same and eat just as good. Better even.

I'm a meat hunter so no issues with shooting Does. Just as happy. Don't really care about the parts I can't eat.

I appreciate a nice buck and will shoot one but prefer to shoot young does. They just taste so much better.

I shoot does to eat. That is priority #1. I do enjoy killing a big buck just because it does not always happen for me.

I have 4 relatively tame does that like to hang around the property that are off limits. they don't mind when I'm there and watch from the tree line when I fill feeders. Their milkshake brings the boys to the yard. It helps that i have axis too so if i need meat i just go for them.

There is one of those old does on our place that seems to have a sixth sense. Even when the wind is perfect for one of my bow blinds, she and her sisters come in and she will start blowing before the rest of them jump in the pen. I've tried an ambush on the trail 75 yards away from the feeder a couple times but still got busted. I have been determined to take her with my bow for two seasons but if I can't get her by December I will break out the rifle. She has been a very worthy adversary

nobody on our lease shoots does for whatever reason and our population #s are way out of wack. My dad and I fill the doe tags each year, they eat just as good

So. I have a doe we call floppy. She is old. I missed her years ago. My fault gun was off. Pulled out of the safe and never checked it. Rookie mistake. Next time I tried to get fancy and shoot her in the eye in the brush and missed. Then the last time.. Well it was all me. Just blew it. She is truly my #1 this year. She will stand in the brush and pop her head out and just stomp. She always has a younger group that roams with her. But she is the first to stick her head out. Then pull back. Then just a pain till she gets mad and blows out. She will never step out in the sendero. IF she does cross she runs. We have tried setting up in different areas. She comes in different ways each time and leaves different each time.

A mature doe is smarter and warier than a mature buck. Thats a fact.

I have no issues killing does and do it for the meat. I am a trophy hunter and will kill a couple does long before I kill an immature buck ,100% of the time

The only time I get buck fever is when I am trying to kill one of those old roman nose does. They sure are smart and I think way harder to arrow.
