    12th Annual Panhandle Hunting Thread - 2024-2025

Hey y'all, it's time to crack open the 2024-2025 Panhandle Hunting Thread! We've had some great threads in years' past, and I'm certain this one will be no exception. Most of the state has had good rain earlier this year and the herd appears to be healthy overall, with big antlers and good fawn recruitment that I've seen so far. I'm sure we've got a great season in store in any case.

Please post all your Panhandle hunting observations, successes, pics, whatever. The season is just around the corner and preparations are well under way. This thread welcomes all manner of legal means and methods. Just be safe!

And as always, this is not a management thread. If you have concerns about what a hunter shoots, etc., take it to another thread. That's not the discussion here.

Let's just keep this thread about soaking up the great outdoors, enjoying time with family and friends, and counting our everlasting blessings. Of course, LDPs are always welcome, if not mandatory.

Best of luck to all the Panhandle Boys and Girls this season! Here's to a safe and successful year! Godspeed and safety to all!

    Sincerely,
    Kyle

And yes, I got the pasture shredded...

Boy wonder, what county you in?

got back from hall county yesterday. Truck thermometer read 109 when we pulled out the gate. Was hot!

saw quite a few doves coming into the water tank mid day, so looking forward to knocking down a few soon.

Looking forward to this thread. For the first time in several years I have hope we will have a couple of true trophy deer this year. Guess we will see how they finish out in Dickens and Crosby County.

Childress here, lots of bucks, some pretty good ones but nothing over 160 so far, tons of quail, really excited to see them.

Weekend forecast projections calling for some rain on the dove opener at my place.
. Possibly an Inch over the weekend. Put a damper on them dove hunts. Will make that trade anytime.

Starting to see some cooler mornings on the cell cam... high 50s, which sounds AWESOME. Interestingly enough, traffic at the feeder seems down too. Could be just a product of velvet shedding and dispersion, but bucks are also still normally bachelor'd up until well into October, IME.
