well on the farm we usually make sterilizer. which is getting all the old herbicide and mixing it. but you need a chemical license for all of it. And that will kill everything for about 6 years.

not much that a non-licensed consumer can buy, so you will need to treat the area several times a year. round-up, some sort of pre-imerge for weeds, spot treatments for specific plants.

Be careful of the over spray and run off, you will kill what you don't want to easily.

            Hire a professional.

there are few/no permanent fixes for your problem, esp ones that don't make everyone downstream from you very ill. a thick layer of cardboard/plastic will work for a year or two, but dirt will show up sooner or later and where there is dirt, there will be green. it will be weeds but it will be green. 2011 rain totals will make your job easier, but here's hoping for your failure. even solid concrete will turn green soon enough.

and have that professional bond/guarantee the long term health of any trees you or your neighbors desire to keep, as well as any other permanent landscaping. read the roundup label warnings and you'll see what i mean.

I sprayed some honcho in areas of my yard 2 years ago. Granted I may have mixed it way to strong, but its still dirt!

I put a cup of Diesel & a little dish washing soap in with the roundup it will kill it. The dish washing soap is to make it stick to the grass.

Get with Ron, he can probably sell you some stuff that will kill it.

Diesel is the fastest and most productive way.

You might try the Roundup again, but this time lay sheets of black plastic over it (after it dries). Weigh it down with bricks and keep covered for at least 10 days to 2 weeks. It WILL kill the grass.

how big of area is it?

i would rent a tiller and till it under. i would also put down weed barrier cloth before i put gravel down or you will be fighting growth through the rocks
