A week ago I woke up with a sore throat, head congestion and an occasional cough. No fever, slight fatigue.. For a few days I went to work thinking it was just allergies or a summer cold but I then tested positive for Covid and have continued to test positive for 4 days even though my symptoms other than fatigue are gone. Any recent experience with this strain? How long am I likely to test positive?

My 80yo MIL has had it for 2 weeks, she has dementia also and picked it up at adult daycare, she isn’t testing positive last couple days
but still has allergy type symptoms/ head cold , congestion, nausea, fatigue, low grade fever
can’t go to day care without being cleared by a doctor, doctor didn’t clear her last Thursday unfortunately
( she is a PIA to take care of, trying to get her medication and entertainments , meals squared away daily)Last edited by S-3 Ranch; 08-11-2024, 12:50 PM.

The wife and I both had it back in May. Our symptoms were low grade fever, hot flashes and fatigue. My wife had some congestion, but I didn't have much. It literally felt like someone shot me with a tranqualizer dart. Worst symptoms were for about 48 hours and we both started feeling much better after. My wife had a lingering cough for about 10 days. Like just about anything else, I think the severity is all over the place as far as how sick people get and for how long.
As for testing positive, my understanding is you can test positive outwards to like 2 weeks; which is pretty similar to flu. You aren't contagious after a handful of days.
