    Suppressor Application Backlog Mess?

Couple of close buddies of mine (TBH'ers that have forgotten more about firearms than I'll ever know) have known for quite some time that i wanted a suppressor and when i pressed them on the path of least resistance, offered up the idea to visit Rifle Gear in The Colony. Very knowledgeable folks and advised me back on April 21st that the turnaround time on Suppressor Applications was running 4-5 days. "Sign me up"! Fast forward 9 weeks later, $1500 worth of purchases (App & Suppressor & Accessories), i have nothing in hand. Called the store multiple times and get the same story, It's random processing. Any suggestions or comments on what the reality is and or how to reach out to the ATF to see where i am in queue? BTW, Squeaky clean record

It’s a waiting game that’ll push your buttons. I’ve been waiting on my approval since June of last year still no response.

I’m going to take a guess based on the approval times I’ve experienced and read about based off how you filed.

You filed them under a trust?

And to answer your question, no real way to see where you stand in the queue. Best you can do is call the ATF, give them the required info, and they will say it’s “processing”.

The only real answer is, some take a week, some take a year

That seems excessive. Considering what I've been hearing for a while. Even though all mine took 12-16 months but thats been years ago

I submitted my last one last month, and got it back in 5 days. Has a lot to do with the application type and how accurate your prints and pictures are. Any discrepancies will delay or cause it to get kicked back.

I submitted one yesterday because I heard wait times were down. Contacting the ATF is the way to get updates, but like mentioned earlier it will just be in the processing stage. Your best bet is to forget about it and wait. It sucks, but that’s our government at work.

How are you contacting the ATF ? I submitted one in April and went with an individual application to be faster and haven't seen anything yet.

You have to set up an eform account with the ATF. If you submitted one you should have already done that. Then you can check status from your account.

I received notice today from the ATF that my eform was submitted

I wouldn't call 2 months a backlogged mess when it comes to NFA wait times. The store probably should have told you 4 days to 12 months, but they were trying to make a sell.

I must have a problem then . When I log onto the eforms on the home page I get "no forms available" when I select each of the choices , approved , disapproved, pending.....

Last year I finally broke down and decided to get some. The first batch I got I went with a trust. They trickled in anywhere from 8-10 months. The last one I got was earlier this month. I filed as an individual and once the store finally got the suppressor I wanted in stock, it was approved in less than 24 hours. Everything I have been told is that if you file with a trust you have to wait in two lines and if you file as an individual, there is only one line and it is moving much faster.

Can you file with a trust later?
