I also believe the newer operating theory / design is to have units run more often in shorter cycles. I believe the intent is to use less energy overall.

    I think…
I don't know how to multi quote with the new set up...so... one at a time

the main return is away from registers. there are returns in each room. Some closer than others

that is one thing I want to look at. The owners manual is in a drawer at the house I think. I'll go there in the morning to see if there are humidity settings as well as max & min settings for the desired temp settings.(Glen & I talked about this awhile ago)

I didn't move in for a year after my house was built and it took me too long to find a few things. Finding issues now will save you troubles down the road. There are a million things to inspect.

I still laugh at having two outlets in my master closet about 1.5' apart but none in the bathroom (shared wall). Was like Duh! Did the electrician not think at all?
            Tim,

being retired I have been out there EVERY day. I've found several things that ... in some cases...demoed and re done completely.

the A/C situation has me perplexed.

One other ting I forgot to mention in the original post...

When the unit is off, I can hear a humming sound from the compressor area in the unit. What it means, I have no idea. Sometimes it is louder than others and is not a consistent sound. Sometimes I can hear it and other times not. Course with the builder there, it is not present.

Shouldn't matter if the AC guys did their job correctly.

He already said the house is empty.
Ac company does not plan for a home to have drapes and blinds.
                        How am I 100% incorrect?

A house with several hundred square feet of cooled down furniture will maintain a temperature MUCH longer than an empty house.
                          (think refrigerator)
A house with blinds blocking sun will maintain a temperature MUCH longer than one with direct sunlight glaring through windows
( think windshield shade in a vehicle)

                          (It’s a layer of insulation)

House is bare azz naked . floors and walls only.

I'll get a HVAC thermometer at Lowes tomorrow at l6 and go out to hose by 6'30 and check on things.

He has already stated the house is empty. (I do agree with you on the furniture issue and all that though)

Your logic is right but thats not how it works. The AC company didnt plan this install based on him adding curtains and drapes. If they did, I feel sorry for him.

(It’s a layer of insulation)I agree, they do help. But if the AC company did their job right, they did a load calculation on the entire house as the plans called for and nothing else. It should work as advertised.
Your compressor noise isnt nothing out of the norm either but it does peak my interest. Can you hear it just standing by the unit or is your ear on the unit?

sometimes the sound is subtle and times where I hear it 10 feet away.
