I had it as I was transitioning into a new neuropathy med. I would be out and about and it would hit me. I would have to take a knee before I did a face plant. No way to describe it...the whole world spinning. Usually passed in 30-45 seconds.

Bad Case Of Vertigo. Anyone Had It?

Back in 1984, I damaged my inner ear on a dive in Florida. I had to keep my eye's closed on the bus ride back. I spent 3 months cooped up in my apartment because just about any movement would take me to the floor. I could only listen to the radio because the movement on tv would take me out. Even putting an album on the turntable would get me. A friends wife brought me food and did my laundry for me. The ear doc gave me some eye exercises to do that were miserable, but they worked after a while.

I also started having hissing in my ear (tinnitus) and perceived hearing loss. After a series of tests at an ENT doc I was diagnosed last week with having Meneire's disease. It sucks.Originally posted by dosrobles View PostI have Meneires Disease. I haven’t had much trouble with. My ENT can roll my head around a certain way and readjust my inner ear crystals or bubbles or what ever they are it’s gone in 5 minutes and I go home
Thanks for sharing this. I will get a referral from my doctor for an ENT.
I am hoping what I went through is a one off. Looked into Meneires Disease and does not look like something I want ignore.
Thank you.

It freaked me out thinking about if this happened while I was driving. Especially on the way to my lease on a two-lane road.

Hey J,
Have you had a virus in the past couple weeks? I had a "chest cold" before I developed Viral Labyrinthitis over 10 years ago. Its a long shot that this can happen but it does in rare cases. A virus can make its way into the inner ear and cause major issues.
Inner ear is a very delicate area and does not like any swelling to disrupt the balance signals sent to the brain. In my case the nerves were damaged and it took about a year for me to be able to trust my balance. 10 years later, I get some false motion here and there mainly during allergy season and if I get sick, its a weak spot.
If your issue continues then I would book with a specialist (ENT) for them to run tests on the inner ear.
Hope that helps! Vertigo is maddening!

I've been hit with occasional vertigo--the kind caused by the crystals in my head being out of balance. Usually, it hits me when I change positions, say lying down to standing. I can easily fix this with the Epley Maneuver.
However, my mother had a severe case of vertigo years ago. She could not stand or walk and she was dizzy even laying down with her eyes closed. It turns out she had some sort of virus (maybe of the inner ear?); once it went away, she hasn't had it sense.
I'd go to the doctor if I were you.

Yeah, looks like I will need to bite the bullet and actually go to a doctor. Just suucks because my insurance is horrible now.
I suppose its better paying out the money than going through this carp again.
Just really glad nobody has mentioned more severe diagnoses.
Didnt help I went down the "WebMD" wormhole. I am not that guy and tell everyone I know not to do it, but this one got me sucked into it.
