Bad Case Of Vertigo. Anyone Had It?

It seems like TBH has a fairly broad age span and life experiences throughout the group. Just curious how many of you all have had Vertigo before. I don't mean getting a little dizzy standing up too fast or the room spinning a little from drinking too much. I mean a hard-core scary spinning feeling, closing your eyes and still feeling the spin, followed by nausea and unbalanced.

Monday morning I woke up at 7am and as soon as I opened my eyes and started to rollover it hit me, HARD. Had to stay in bed for 10 minutes just to be able to stand up and when I went to the bathroom, it hit again. Rest of the day I was nauseous, unbalanced with a constant feeling it was about to happen again. Tuesday it was a little less, but all was still there. I am 47 and never experienced this before.

Been fighting high blood pressure since my early 30's and it was high that morning and has been since.

Has anyone every had this happen to them? If so, did it happen again or become frequent? Any diagnoses given by your doctor?

Just curious if this is a common thing or if it led to something bigger.

    Thanks in advance.

Yep, I've had it off and on for years. I'm 45 years old. Blood pressure is slightly elevated but not enough to medicate. My doc has given me stuff to take but it makes me sleepy. She said it was an inner ear issue. Mine usually never lasts for more than a couple days in a row. Has been bad enough where I can't drive.
My mom had a horrible case of it 2 years ago after her second jab. Lasted for about 3 months and she could barely walk and was vomiting from the spinning a couple times a day. They had to realign crystals in her ears. She had multiple treatments for that. She's doing good now.
I suggest seeing an ENT. Good luck!

I’ve had several rounds with it, a lot of the same symptoms you had. Mine would last a few days at a time. On high blood pressure medicine also. Last time I thought it was coming on , I stopped by the local clinic for them to check my blood pressure, it wasn’t higher than normal. I take a Zyrtec every day, a couple of times when I ran out and started taking a Claritin, think that may have triggered a couple of spells. That’s all I could think of that I did different from every day routine, the nurse thinks that could be a possibility also. I still try not to stand up too quickly and avoid any sudden movement if possible to hopefully prevent another spell. Haven’t had it since last summer, It’s definitely no fun dealing with it.

The worst part of it is trying to go to bed and the room starts spinning when I close my eyes.

It could be several things - most commonly it happens when the crystals in your inner ear have gotten out of whack. However the doctor usually likes to rule out other causes which are more serious. For example about 6 weeks ago I started having severe vertigo episodes every 2-3 days that lasted several hours and were totally debilitating. I also started having hissing in my ear (tinnitus) and perceived hearing loss. After a series of tests at an ENT doc I was diagnosed last week with having Meneire's disease. It sucks.

I have Meneires Disease. I haven’t had much trouble with. My ENT can roll my head around a certain way and readjust my inner ear crystals or bubbles or what ever they are it’s gone in 5 minutes and I go home

Look up Epley Maneuver. You can do it at home.

I was hit with it last Wednesday morning. I got up around 4:00 am to use bathroom. When I layed back down it hit me. It’s absolutely horrible. The room spins while you’re throwing up. I lied in bed till12:45 and was able to get up. It was so bad I couldn’t take my son to work.
Several years ago I had it for three days straight. I ended up going to an ENT I knew. He put me in a chair and rotates your head certain ways and was able to clear it up.
You actually have calcium crystals in side your ears that kinda act like a position device and when those move out of place it messes you up bad.
When my blood pressure is high I get light headed or have a headache Much easier to deal with than vertigo

My ent gave me a printout of the maneuvers and did inform me that “if done improperly you can make it worse”

Yes. Suffered several major bouts. BPPV is what it is called and used the Epley Manuver as mentioned to get it under control. Had to sleep on one side or back for about 2 weeks to abate it.

I have had similar happen several times in the past few years. It’s been about a year since my last episode but I think 2 things that I say may have helped cause mine: 1. Slept wrong on pillow, head wasn’t supported correctly. 2. Allergies, sinus pressure.
I have gotten so nauseous and head spinning like crazy. Couldn’t go to work and laid upright for the entire day. It’s a horrible feeling. Prayers

Yep. If you search that subject here you’ll know all you need to. Mines been pretty calm for a year or so. The turn your kneck first thing in the morning trick helped me a lot. It’s a tricky malady. God bless you

It's not a good feeling when you are on top of a ladder and you start having an episode!
