I use those "mexican" cast nets. They fold up like a taco when I throw them.

I wish they made a left handed cast net.

The right side of the brain controls the left side of the body,so only left handed people are in their right minds!
Unfortunately this does not apply to cast nets, and I have not found the right string of cuss words to make them work properly either.Good luck.

I tried to catch some domestic ducks at my place in Brownwood with a cast net, didn't work too well, so I'm sure if I tried to throw it in the water it would be a single use item.

Some girls do also. Heck I've seen a 10yr old throw a 8 foot net perfectly. I can't even throw a 3 footer half the time. I think AC might be on to something talking about the left handed net.

Throwing a 7ft and smaller cast net is super easy. People make it hard. I had riley throwing pancakes with a 5ft net when she was 8-9 yrs old. I like 1 lb per foot. Anything bigger , imo, isn't necessary unless you're throwing in 20ft or more deeper water. Fitec makes a great net. One tip that will help getting those pancakes instead of tacos, soak your net over night in fabric softner. Also use real lead weights. For some reason the other weights just don’t sink as fast. As far as snagging goes, if you snag position the boat right over the top and bounce the the net. Most times you will break the branch twig your snagged on and won’t ruin your net. That being said sometimes you have to sacrifice the net. I keep at least 5-6 nets on the boat. 1 5ft, 1 6ft and the rest 7ft
