    Jujube trees

Who has Jujube trees? I have two about 10' tall. Plenty of suckers that I'm planting and potting.
I'd like to get a variety of Jujube trees and figure since it appears easy to dig up and grow the suckers maybe someone would want to trade trees.

I can pot fig trees to trade with also if someone doesn't want more Jujube trees.

Also if anyone knows...Why do some people graft these trees versus just transplanting the suckers?

I’ve got one and it puts out a ton of fruit. Makes great jujube butter, if you eat that sort of thing.

I’ve never tried to transplant the suckers. Didn’t even know it was possible. Doesn’t matter though because with just one I’ve got all I can handle. I just mow the suckers down.

I have, Lang, Li, and GA-866. Suckers from a grafted jujube tree will produce tiny fruit...like small acorn sized. Suckers are always horrendous. However the trees are super hardy. Freeze, drought, no insects etc. Dont have to worry about blight. Fall crop so late freezes wont freeze blooms etc. I use whip and tongue methods for grafting...highest percentage of success for me on jujube.

What you want to do is air layer to make a new tree (I have done it successfully on Lang but not Li, and plan on trying the ga-866). Then when it grows suckers (and it will), since it is not grafted...it will produce Lang jujubes.

I have no idea what you just said.
You want to sell me some jujube trees? I have no idea what I'm doing.

I’ve got four. Two Lang and two Li. They’re incredibly hardy trees. Of all my fruit trees, they were the first to produce fruit and weathered the past couple freezes the best. My figs have been nothing but trouble.

What does the fruit taste like? Does the taste vary a lot between types?

Never heard of this tree before, but I am intrigued.
