Paying someone else to fill your feeder?

Has anyone ever paid someone else to fill your feeders? I mean someone that wasn’t on your lease or hunted with you. We go through about 12-15 bags a month. Just wondering how much some of y’all had paid for something like that.

That would be a perfect job for a local trustworthy high school kid.

There was a guy who did that in the Rocksprings area when I hunted out there. It was something Ranch Services, he filled feeders and did other ranch chores.

Have a good friend that hired somebody to do that because it was six hours to his lease. The guy wound up day hunting the place while my friend was working.

Personally I would invest in larger capacity feeders so you could fill every 3 months or so. I’m pretty particular about what goes on around my hunting area and the last thing I would want is someone filling my feeders with radio blaring at feeding time and then taking his buddies on the ranch tour. These days I think you’re looking for a unicorn. But good luck and I hope you can find the right person if you go that route.

Definitely a GREAT job for a local kid, but probably comes with some potential issues. Dang, I even hate to think like that honestly.

Probably right, just buy larger feeders with upgraded working parts/solar panel.

We have a guy who fills some of ours no problems at all. We allow him to shoot one trophy a year. He's usually shot out before season starts so he's not bothering the other hunters

Might need to check with your landowner (if you're leasing) before contracting with someone. Landowner may be particular about who/when/how often some stranger is on his property; may want a liability waiver, etc.

Even if you manage to find a kid you can trust odds are he won't do it long. 1-2 years max. Just not enough money in it and even kids find better jobs.

Unless you're willing to pay a lot. But then just do as mentioned and buy bigger feeders.

15 bags a month isn't much I would either buy bigger feeders to cut down on trips to fill them or even better put two feeders per location and have one feed mornings the other in the evening, that way they last twice as long.

My son and his buddy go fill feeders and cottonseed every few months. I pay them a couple hundred bucks each time

You are spot on. 15 is nothing even for my smallish place. That two feeder idea is brilliant. I will run with that idea since i have at least 4 or 5 feeders just hanging around......thanks!
