While I would never crap on a Pantera thread, they are not in my top metal bands of all time. Ok, maybe 9-10. I have tossed back a few beers and some shots with them at the after parties at the Basement and Joe's garage a few times. Great guys, except Rex Rocker. I saw someone say all bands were glam in the 80's? This could not be more false. Thrash started in SF in the early 80's. Pantera switched over when Kerry King from Slayer befriended Dime. Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Exodus....never wore pink and played glam/poser metal.

RIP Dime.

Spent many night talking to Dime and Rita when I was a bouncer in downtown Fort Worth bars. He was truley a good man.

Saw them back in Denison in 86. Buddy paid them $3 grand to play the old main street Stardust theatre. My brother came in from Houston and stayed at the Holiday inn in Denison, very next room to Dime. Lets just say the room was trashed the very next day. I still have my ticket stub that we made in Printing shop for the concert. They had another guy named Terry something, and the album was Projects in the Jungle. They do kick butt!

A buddy of mine also was good friends with them and also plays Dean guitars like Dime, they do a lot of fundraiers with Pantera. Check them out, if you Pantera, you will like them. Texas Hippie Coaltion.
