    Protein feeding question

I am going to start protein feeding on my lease this year. For y’all that do the question I have is do you have a corn feeder in same pen or do yall prefer to have a corn feeder in a separate pen. Also I know a 50 foot rope will make a circle with ten panels will 60 foot make a circle with 12 panels.

We have corn, protein and cottonseed all in the same feeder pens. 50'radius should be plenty big.

If you think you'll ever have to fight cows, make a square pen. That way you can do barb wire later if needed. Yes, corn, protein and 2 cottonseed hoops in our pens. My smallest is a 4 panel x 4 panel and have 6-8+ deer in it at one time.

I don’t know if it is best or not but we have our protein feeders separate from corn feeders, we will not have stands set up on protein feeders.

Timed protein and corn in the same pen at our place. 7 members... 2 pens per member and we have solid results with it. The timed protein feeder not only supplements them during the season but ups your in-season game as well.

I think this year I am gonna try them in the same pen. I am in east Texas so my pen size is limited. I will try with the 12 panels. I will have a corn feeder and timed protein feeder in the pen. I am gonna try a small water trough with a 200 gallon tank to gravity feed it.

We have corn feeders throwing once a day at noon, just our experiment, in our protein feed pens. We have free choice protein feeders. We also mix a little corn in the bottom 1/3 when we re-fill our protein feeders in February each year. We do not hunt our protein feeders though.

Protein, Cottonseed and corn all in the same pen, deer eat more of it this way. Make pens minimum 10 panels

We feed corn, protein and have 2 cottonseed baskets in the same pen. We have a couple of 10 panel pens but that's kind of tight. Most of ours are 12 panels and I think that's a good size, but 16 is better.

For all the guys not hunting your protein feeders, why not? Just curious on the thought process

                            Reduce pressure/create a sanctuary.

For me I just want it to be a safe place where the deer especially the older ones feel safe, we put 6 out so far, may add one or two more, that would be about 350 acres per 2000 lb feeder, we will have about 8 corn feeders as well. My situation is probably different than most, only my family will be hunting, most of the time maybe 3 or 4 hunters.
