I just got bit by a dog

    ...about an hour ago, actually.

I share this with you because there seems to be a big misperception that I lead some sort of glamorous life and, heaven knows, I take a lot of sh*t for being "spoiled." All this is to say that you really can't judge a book by its cover or assume the path others walk in life is an easy one. Like many of you, my life is occasionally fraught with peril and misfortune, too.

But here's how it went down...

I was having my nails done, which I do every two weeks, and was bitten by a large dog that was on the premises. Several puncture wounds, blood everywhere. My manicurist, who was, of course, alarmed, asked me what I wanted to do (like call 911 or go to the ER, I'm not sure what). I told her, "I'm sure I'll be fine. Let's just go ahead and finish my nails."

She looked at me like I was crazy but I didn't care because I AM A SURVIVOR !

From reading some of your posts, I expect the dog is worse off?

Crazy! And I agree. People may see others with success now and talk crap about how easy they have it or how lucky they are but they have no idea what it took to get to that point. Very aggravating. Get well soon!

He got a good smack on his snout but it was more a visceral reaction than my trying to make a point.

You are spoiled. The universe sent the dog to bite you to even things out a bit. Seems simple enough

You might inquire to make sure it is up to date on rabies…

Wash it out good with betodine or hydrogen peroxide, maybe have the clinic call in some antibiotics?
I have been bitten multiple times by bird dogs and usually get a mild infection when I didn’t get stitches and a shot
cat & dog bites can get worse after some time goes by or ignored

a pet bite is inevitable unfortunately

This for sure ! I’d be going to the ER and get those puncture wounds irrigated with whatever they use and then I’d be making the dog’s owner prove to me that the rabies vaccination was current. I do hope you got their contacts before they escaped. Take care of that, animal bites can get nasty.

Canine bites should be taken very seriously. Even minor ones. I’ve known several dog trainers that have ended up in the hospital trying to save their hands. At this particular time I will refrain from making childish jokes about the dangers that the dog might actually be facing. But tomorrow……😎😎

Any concern if the dog is up to date on its shots?

I would have killed the dog and no I don't need a firearm.

Aren't you a nurse? Can't you triage your self? I mean, I've set my own broken bones before. Surely you can.

                              Hoping the best for ya.
