It was a blast. I'm blessed to know everyone there.

We had pan sausage for breakfast yesterday and again today. At this rate, we should have made a bit more.

Can't wait to see how our dry turns out!

Looks like a lot of fun! And congrats to the families that made it happen. Sausage making used to be a big family event many years ago. It's what brought families from all over together. And a chance to see each other. With the decline in interest in hunting, sadly, I think this activity is being lost in America. Good on all of you for holding up this American tradition.

If anyone else reading this thread decides to process your own, call some family members, and/or friends with families, and ask if they would like to help. Get the children involved. They will remember it growing up. And hopefully, help pass that seed down to their generation.

Edit: Least not we forget the fundamental reason for coming together; to hunt and share food.

I am sure the sausage is excellent but the benefits of a family and friends tradition y’all have there is priceless. Your group is one of not too many left that does this all together as a family/friends group I bet. Hopefully it will be able to continue for decades to come. Congratulations too you all!

It was a LOT of work, but we had a great time. We had a full crew of helpers beyond Casey, Les, Trey and me. Casey's in-laws, Fred and Donna, made a batch of breakfast links and another batch for Casey's niece, Presley (she was originally going to come to make her own, but couldn't make it because she was busy starring in a basketball game!) Trey's bride, Kim, also pitched in to help tend the fire. Jeanette, Hannah, Colette, Cady and Kelsey also each put in a full day of work grinding, mixing, stuffing and cleaning. Hannah took over my Instagram account to "document" the event on the socials!

I made 15# of summer sausage (whitetail/pork), 33# of link (whitetail/pork) and mixed up 46# of breakfast sausage (axis/pork). Jeanette and I spent another couple of hours last night vacuum sealing it all up!

It was a great day with the "family!" As Casey mentioned, it is incredibly satisfying to take an animal from field to freezer! We made sausage from animals that were killed this season (with a bow) by Jeanette, Courtney, Michaela and me!
