Can snakes bite through leather boots? I've heard they can't penetrate through leather but I'm not 100% sure and I don't want to find out either.

I've bought several types of snake tongs that turned out to be total junk (especially the Ebay ones, that broke after catching just a couple of snake with them) and then somebody here recommended Whitco snake tongs. By far the best built snake catcher I've ever used! I wish I could remember who it was that recommended them to me so I could thank them. Anyways, here's the link...

That'd be me running out the back door. I was on a tractor before season doing some mowing. One went across the lane and I slammed on the brakes and stopped on a dime. It was 10' in front of the tractor.

You can get them at any animal control website for a pretty decent price.... IMO the 4' is the easiest to use.... Just remember, the longer you get them, the harder they are to handle....

I prefer a hook unless we are gassing a den. Shorter tongs won't wear you out as bad.

I've been bitten hundreds of times working snake pits and have seen hundreds more bites on others and we only wear cowboy boots. Even ropers. Never had or seen a penetration on leather boots.

Btw, That's me getting struck in a leather boot in my previous post.

Now you guys do realize a real man can catch them without the new fangled grabber thingy. My dad is crazy enough to do it but I know if it can kill me I ain't catching it that way. Even though I have caught more than a few of the non poisonous ones just using my hands.

The way my dad does it is to shake a stick in front of its face and then reach around behind it and grab it by the neck. But as mentioned above he is crazy enough to do it.

It's not too hard to build one. I've built several for me and the neighbors.
