My frustration is the killing of free range deer herds like what they are doing in Missouri or eliminating baiting etc. I dont believe regulations they are imposing are doing anything. the infection rate is very low, even if it gets higher, it takes 18 months to 2 years to kill the animal once infected. That animal can breed and have offspring to replace it, if that is the case. What we need to figure out is looking for a genetic resistant strain or a vaccine etc. We should have spent this much money and effort into EHD as well that kills 10x as many deer every year. I just dont trust their judgement on stuff.

They screwed up Fairfield state park, they screwed up the pine plantation lease over in East Texas, and mass killing is a knee jerk reaction that is not the answer. This disease has been around since 67. I haven't heard anything about elk or mule deer in Colorado and Wyoming numbers going down or deer extinct over there and its been in that area for 50 years.

I’d trust a Democrat before I’d trust one word from TP&W on any issue

My question to you- do you believe a disease woth 1% infection rate after being in wild since 1967 is decimating the herd? Do you think humans can get it? Where is your proof for either question if yes?

Has our deer and elk herds not increased? Doesnt the disease usually kill a deer 2 years after infection? Dont you think deer recruitment numbers can make up for what dies? Like a doe at 4 dies of cwd. .how many offspring has she had?

Hasnt ehd killed more deer since 1967 than cwd? Isnt there 2 non native strains of ehd in the usa now?

Why do you fear cwd over ehd?
Your questions reveal that you haven't watched the presentation I shared earlier, as it addresses several of your concerns. Here's that link again.

And again, Beargrass, if you want to continue discussing, please start another thread.
