And guess where a lot of those new rooftops come.from and are bringing their votes backing wind and solar. So those folks and the electric car bunch can refer to my post number 105.

I never have confidence in the grid after being without electricity for over 36 hours a few years ago.

Replacing the pool equipment was painful due to the fact that I hate that SOB!

Hope everyone’s meter is spinning and you are warm and toasty!

So far so toasty in north Texas.

What kinda makes me chuckle is guys on here worried or complaining about no heat. Most have been on hunts out West- I spent 13 days in temps that the high was about 35 and lows in teens. We had a wall tent with a small stove. Most have paid to go on these trips and say it was a great trip but go a couple days in Texas without electric and it was a nightmare

Same thing here, back in Winter Storm Uri LOL. People were freaking out after losing power and worried about putting their food from the fridge and freezers into ice-chests to “save them” for when the power came back on. Meanwhile, it was 10* out in their garages, but they couldn’t figure out where to put their frozen foods….

Does the ERCOT CEO, Pablo Vegas, live in Texas ?

                  ERCOT again.

                  Power conservation

ERCOT has issued another call for electricity conservation on Tuesday morning, during the hours of 6 am to 9 am, due to cold temperatures statewide and surging power demand. The current forecast for electricity shows demand forecast to be higher than supplies during this time frame, so it is possible that we see some rolling blackouts for a couple of hours. It’s something we’ll all be monitoring early tomorrow morning, I am sure.

Saw news cast on the Weather Channel about how the whole energy industry in Texas is run by idiots from the generation transmission, transportation to the sale of power,
the generation plants are old and obsolete, the employees are incompetent or apathetic, the transmission is obsolete and unreliable and unmanaged ( maintained) the local government / supply is trapped by first two & the end user is trapped by the power supply system
I wish I had a better understanding of how incompetent the system is, all I know is that I receive texts year round that I need to conserve or have a blackout, it’s 15* outside and my HVAC is taxed to maintain 65 inside so F the whole thing

Whenever someone cries to me about cold temps I always want to bring up the story of Earnest Shackleton and his voyage of "Endurance". Lost for 1.5 years with close to 30 men in the South Pole with temperatures never getting above 20 degrees. For a year in a half. And and they all survived.

THere's a very simple explanation, if you care to think about it.

After years of watching them spew climate change propaganda and hyping every minor storm as if it was a biblical flood, you’re trusting what The Weather Channel has to say about the Texas power industry?

                              Seriously?

ERCOT certainly deserves some criticism but c’mon, The Weather Channel?
