    Where to go Tent Camping??

I am thinking about taking my boys tent camping on Spring Break. I want to get out of the Pine Trees of ETX and go somewhere they would have some fun.

TX, OK, AR, LA are all in play.

I would rather not drive too far but a couple hours are not out of the question.

What does the TBH Brethren have to say?

It's a long drive (i know, i know) but we tent camped in Moraine Park just outside Estes Park, CO. Probably one of the tope vacations I've ever been on.

Other options might be Turner Falls in OK or Enchanted Rock in TX

Colorado Bend SP looked nice when we stopped there on our way home from a spring break trip to Inks Lake SP a few years ago

Beavers Bend in Broken Bow would be close and it is nice too

Daniel, it's still pine trees and hardwoods, but Beaver's Bend area of SE Oklahoma is a great place to go. The Lower Mountain Fork below the lake is full of trout, and the place is really pretty and scenic! About 2 hours...can't go wrong!

Me and my boy went to broken bow and tented by the river , that was in March of 4 yrs ago, we did not pack enough blankets and froze all night but we did catch some trout using fly rods so it was all good.

Inks lake SP is good but it will be really crowded, Lake Mineral Wells SP is nice, Tawakoni SP is also nice

Buffalo Point Arkansas, beautiful river, camp there or camp along the river. Rent canoes and float the river, they will pick you up and bring you back to camp. Showers, picnic tables and evening shows nightly. Well worth the drive...

it a heck of a long way but i too would go to the Big Bend SP or the National park (you may be too late for national park reservations). the state park almost guarantees that neighboring campsites will not be visible from your own site.

most if not all of the central Texas parks will be packed to the gills with campers and visitors, especially Garner, Lost Maples, Colorado Bend, Pedernales, etc.; these are the last places i would go if you're looking to avoid crowds.
