Bring it on. Getting froze in is about the only way I get a day off. I could handle a day or two in front of the fireplace

Looks like Winter to me, lol.

PondPopper lots of geese in eastern Colorado right now, and the Panhandle. Our temps are warmish during the day but cold at night, they may start down before the 24th.

                    Real problem !
Glad it’s been mild, thus far. Once it gets COLD the cows stay at feed 24/7

I would welcome a frost in starr co...we're still green & gonna have to mow camp soon.

I love it when everything turns brown & yet the dang mesquites still got their leaves.

We've had storms in Feb 21 and Feb 23 and now a 4 week lead time. Whether this produces or not, who knows, but If you're unprepared at this point it's on you.

Patterns… there’s been a sudden warming over the NE pacific and western Canada . This means a disruption/ change in the winds. This can create a chain reaction that can release arctic air. The polar vortex ,as it’s become commonly known as, always exists. But as the name implies it swirls in the atmosphere above the North Pole, and essentially bottles all of that cold air up within its perimeter. This warming, I mentioned, causes a shift in the air adjacent to the polar vortex and if the temp change and wind change is significant enough it causes the polar vortex to be disrupted. When this happens the polar vortex can open up, and even split into 2 releasing very cold air to spill south

when that happens it can get colder than a witch’s tit!

In all seriousness, that warming has already begun. This gives some hint to the probability of a release of arctic air. What is t know is when this might happen, how cold it may be or even where.

it could release into Asia. It could release and be jettisoned east into Europe. Or Greenland Blocking could occur and drive it straight into the lower 48.

if I were a betting man, I’d bet it releases within a week of that timeframe (1/24), but no blocking exists and the jet stream carries it east and Europe gets the impact. But then later around mid Feb, we get a repeat, this time the ridge known as “Greenland blocking” is developed and in place and we see that cold drive south deep into the lower 48
