Great ideas, keep 'em coming. One thing I forgot to add in the OP... We have stayed in a guest house in Salado two years now and I have have four of these guest houses on my property for hosting family for the holidays. The idea is simple... It's probably 30' x 15' and is broken up to where 2/3s of it is king sized bed, couch, tv, and the other 1/3 is the bathroom. There is a counter with kitchen items and cabinets stretching from the front door to the bathroom. Simple, but nice.

Aforementioned ice maker; big back porch with a chimney, plenty of chairs and a big TV; 4 car garage with plenty of space, a big workshop...what else you guys doing?
I built my last home 3 years ago.

Now I’m selling it and living in an Air BNB.

I remember following along that thread of you building your home. It was very nice and I am sure it’s difficult to deal with. Y’all will get back there soon. Hang in there!

Less square footage. Have built three homes and less is better. Had an awesome storm room in the Amarillo home and that was awesome and came in handy twice. Large porches are a must and make sure the back porch faces any direction but west or north.

We like that all off our lower kitchen cabinets have pull out drawers. I’m too old to bend that low and dig back there often

We did that. The grease build-up in the duct gets rancid and there is no easy way to clean it. Maybe put the stove on an outside wall and run a really short vent line.

I’d love to have a central light switch where I could turn all lights off in the house from our bedroom or have 360 lighting outside that I could turn on or off as well. And an outside siren as well cause we live in the Houston area.
