It's funny, I grew up in the country of western PA in the 60' 70's. My dad taught me how to change oil in a truck. We had a place near the driveway that we would drain the oil right into the ground (I know right) Why is it like gold coming out of the ground but almost a crime when you try to put it back in the ground. I bet that spot we did that at is a toxic mess.

You’re both very wrong.
What you have seen freezing “hundreds of times” is not natural gas itself, but the moisture and contaminates that are entrained in the natural gas..
We run all of our E/P(also a product of fracking)through driers just for this reason, to remove moisture. The flashing that occurs across control valves(pressure drops)causes freezing if there is any moisture at all present.
