I'm a bit if a TV fanatic. If you want a good midpriced TV that will meet any of your needs buy a Hi-sense UK7.

If you want to move upmarket a little, get a Hi-sense U8K or Sony X90L.

The best miniLED TV out there right now depending on the size you get will be the SONY X93L or X95L (the latter only available in 85").

On the OLED side of things the best picture to price value is going to be the Samsung S90c.

QD is a must. But what will really differentiate one tv from the next is it brightness and its processing. SONY has some magic sauce in their processing that can take a very small amount of data from a crappy source and up-scale that picture to 4k and smooth out imperfections better than anyone other TV maker out there.

I have been kicking around upgrading my 75" to a 85" and have really been wondering if the Sony X90L was worth jumping up to and sounds like you answered that.

Sounds like I will have to look into the Hi-sense also.

If you had to pick between the 85" Sony X90L or the U8K Hi-sense which would you lean towards?

My budget is 1500$ ish if that helps and I know these are 100-200$ more but if they are worth it then I won't complain.

On the search for a new one. 75-77". Samsung s90 or LG c3? Trying to stay less than $2k.

S90 will have a much brighter picture with better highlights. you'd really need a G4 to match or exceed the s90.

Get the Hisense U8N its the 2024 model and the 85" is 1699. It will blow you away and is the best LED TV you can get in 85" for under 2K. The ones you listed above are 23 models. The 24 models are all significant upgrades. If you want to move down in price a little the U7N is also a very good TV just not as bright.

Depends on the size. Up to 77" get the s90. Above 77" get the U8. Samsung uses a crappy panel for their 83" S90.

More to it than resolution. 2 tvs can have the same "resolution" but when you feed it a crap signal from satellite or cable box it has the upscale the crap signal into the TV's 4k output. If the TV's brains aren't good at doing that then you will have a much worse image despite both TVs being "4K". Also there are things like brightness, motion handling, highlights, how close or far to sit from TV, over all immersiveness you want, color reproduction, etc.

Similar analogy for me and sound. I have tinnitus and hearing loss but I can definitely tell the difference between a premium sound system and budget sound bar.

Or you can make the gun analogy. You shoot deer with a savage axis in 22-250. Do you really need a Bergara in 6.5 PRC? They both kill deer at 100 yards with proper shot placement? But the Bergara has trigger that is more crisp, it shoots tighter groups, its not as heavy to carry around, and it shoots a bigger bullet pretty fast. Most folks would say its a superior deer rifle with tangible differences between the 2 but at the end of the day they both kill stuff just like 2 TVs both display an image.

I would go with the Samsung. We got ours three years ago from famous tate, and it has been running perfectly with no issues since then. The quality and durability have really impressed me.
