I doubt you will see any difference whatsoever. Looks like they shoot maybe a couple dozen deer, mostly does, off that place each year. A drop in the bucket on 5300 acres with their deer density.

A friend of mine up in Kansas had a family ranch that borders some public land. He says once the season opens it takes about a week for the deer to be pushed over onto them. Their biggest issue is trespassers and poachers

        High fences make great neighbors.

They average 80 deer per year. And yes that number is low for 5,300 acres. As mentioned was never a big deal as they didn't allow drive in and it was thick.

But 12 this weekend with 5 being the compartment that borders us. That's the worry. 10 compartments and nearly half the deer shot are right next to my ranch. A little lop sided.

Anyways I'll just stop feeding on that side of the ranch. So the parks hot spots next year may not be hot. We shall see how the remainder of the season goes. But my cameras on that side went to near zero deer (I just checked them today).

How many deer through the years especially selling deer hunts do you reckon you’ve taken coming off the state land? It’s their turn.

It will grow back up in short order remember you dealing with the state. You need to make a small sanctuary in your property now thick brush and feed and nobody in it.

Tim, before you bought that place, I hunted Colorado Bend a couple times. My best hunt was just past the entrance on the right. Which is I think by your place. Was a good spot.

He probably thinks I handled it poorly. I dont care really. He drove thru one gate, past 3 no trespassing signs and parked there for the night.

Hes the guy that decided to buy land having never set eyes on it then drove to it in the dark, down dirt roads 3-5 miles off the pavement depending on which way he entered and try to find it while towing a camper in an SUV that according to him was low on gas. It was a pretty one sided conversation and 'Dan' mostly listened.

The previous landowner had a feeder right there as well. Probably why it was a good spot. Close to the park pay booth. Now though they get to drive in another 1.5 miles to hunt the entire fence line (which again is their right) but just sucks for my hunting.

I relate this to having a great hidden public access point for fishing or hunting and then word gets out and it gets crowded.

You should hunt that unit again after they finish burning. It's going to be like a 500 acre city park LOL

I think this could be very positive for you ! You have the constant feed and they don’t ! I know it really stinks for right now! I feel for you

Here is hoping it does not negatively affects you much.

If you are that worried about it fence that side out. you can high fence it or just double low fence it. Most people don't realize but two low fences, (at least one with goat wire)set 3 ft apart will stop deer from jumping that fence.

May be clear now but if they don't maintain it you will have new brush in a few years to take it's place

Best bet is to do like you said and move all feeders, plots, etc to the middle or opposite side
