Don't pay for the brand. When I was looking, I tried on a ton, and my favorite ended up being one of the cheapest Resistol hats they had. It's been great. Go try some on!

I am hard on cowboy hats and wear 1 everyday. The past 3 straw hats I have purchased have been American. You used to be able to get a decent straw hat for around $100-150, now they are $250 or more. Felt hats have gotten stupid expensive as well but a felt typically lasts me longer than a straw.

My Twister straw sales for less than $50. I’ve had it now for 5-6 yrs and still holds it shape and stiff.

Twister. I like the coarse weave. Not sure what the proper name is. Good air flow thru the crown. Cost around $50. Mine get pretty rank after a long hot sweaty summer. I chunk em and get a new one every spring.
