El Conquistador is my go to for Mexican food. If you like cheese enchiladas with chili gravy instead of queso, that is the best thing on the menu. They put beef or chicken fajita meat or both on top of the gravy. Their pico is good but can be a little hot. Big O's and Big Margaritas are good as well. Diamondbacks for a good steak but will probably be super busy with Baylor parents being in town.

George’s for American home cooling, Cajun Craft for seafood, Los Cocos or Ninfas for Mexican.

Heitmillers used to be pretty good for chicken fried and regular steaks, but I haven’t been in a loooong time.

Some crap recommendations here and some good.
              Hecho in Waco-everything is good.
              Ninfa’s-get the crawfish enchiladas!
              Vitek’s- Gut Pack
              Schmaltz’s-Original and potato salad
George’s-get a beer but their baked potato with chicken fried steak and gravy is darn good.
Stay away from the chains. Way too many good options to beat those but if Im lookin at a chain, Im going to The Velvet Taco for lunch over by Baylor and gettn the chicken/waffle taco and a paloma

Never understood the hype for the blandest food in America that they serve at Georges.

Really great breakfast tacos near downtown at a place Lolitas.

Captain Billy Whizzbangs has a really good burgers and good diner type menu.

Another great burger joint is off the beaten path a bit called Kitoks. Get the oriental fries...they are something else.

I second the Gut Pak at Viteks.

I used to really like that place when it was in Elm Mott before the old man died. We ate there pretty often. He used to walk around and play his accordian and make sure your food was good. Ate there once since it moved and have not been back
