    DWI Lawyer Recommendations??

I don't have many details yet and they probably aren't relevant or shouldn't be posted anyway but it looks like I may need a DWI lawyer. Are they location specific? If so, I would need one in the Stephenville area which may mean DFW. If not, I'm in the Austin area (Pflugerville/RR). Anyway, please don't turn this into a right or wrong, we can all agree it was likely wrong (again I don't have many details). But that doesn't change the fact that I may need a lawyer. Thanks in Advance.

No referrals, but my opinion (as a non-criminal-defense lawyer) is that you want a good lawyer with significant experience in that county, with that judge and those prosecutors. Good luck to you.

I'm kind of thinking the same but I know Stephenville isn't that big nor is Erath Co.

This right here. Find someone in Erath Co. Oh, and prepare to take on a second job to pay for it all.

Stephenville is a college town. I’d bet there are more than a few good DWI attorneys there.

Ditto the comments about getting a second job. The attorney’s fees are just the beginning and just a drop in the bucket. Not speaking from personal experience, just watched someone close to me go through it. The process is long and expensive, but you will get through it.

I would highly recommend someone with experience in that specific county. Lots of stuff gets done behind the scenes regarding criminal prosecutions. Believe me, the prosecutors and defense attorneys who work together frequently know each other and some are quiet civil to one another. That always increases the chances for the possibility of a plea deal, etc. depending on the specifics of the case.

My wife called a couple of firms in that area and I think we found one. Thanks for the replies and support.

If you’re looking for one I. The Austin Round Rock area and want a good one let me know. I ran a DWI Unit in that area and can give you two very good ones. Realize if you want a good DWI lawyer you will have to pay for being top tier.

I've always heard $17-20k. But I did find out this is a DUI situation not a DWI so hopefully a little less.

Thanks, I'll let you know if anything changes. Yeah, I learned that thru my divorce. The better the lawyer the more you pay. But in the divorce case you can't put a price on your kids so it was worth it.
