    Better broadheads

I was thinking about changing broadheads. I am only pulling 55# or so after shoulder surgery.i know broadheads are a personal choice but what are the better broadheads out there today?
I have been using Slick trick but was considering. Going to a mechanical. Maybe Grim Reaper, Deadmeat V2? With the lower poundage I worry about penetration but I like the cut size.

I did a search but it seems like it’s missing threads

55# in a modern (<5 years) compound with the latest technology is plenty for most needs. Still, I’m not a fan of any broadhead that defies physics by opening forward before the blades sweep back. If you have to consider an expandable, it’s hard to look past the Rage Hypodermic line. I lean towards fixed blade and depending on what game you’re hunting would determine the head I’d use. I love the QAD Exodus swept blade for tougher animals.

like most things in life, there’s A LOT of good heads out there, but definitely some I’d stay away from.

I am shooting about the same poundage and love the G5 Strikers.

Only 55 lbs. ? You could lower it even more and be fine. If you have high-quality broadheads and they are ultra-sharp, not right out of the box 'sharp' which
is NOT sharp, then you'll get plenty of penetration if not complete pass-throughs every time. Stay with quality, fixed blades ... not something that going to come apart on
you half way through the animal.
        Good luck!

I've seen independent reviews of the new trifecta broadleaf and it looks great. I will buy some when I'm out of my shuttle t's

How far you shooting? Shooting deer and pigs? Decent arrow weight?

iron will wide if you wanna spend the coin. Mechanical, I’d get a dead meat, rage +p, or the grim reaper pro 1 3/8 or carni 4. The trifecta is sharp and looks nice, but I haven’t whacked anything with them yet

Nothing but fixed for this old guy. Been shooting Bear Razorheads since the early 70s. I also shoot Rothaar Snuffers for hogs.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.. Keep using what you already know works plus you have old ones to practice with already...

SEVR 1.5” broadheads work well for me as a mechanical. I keep my bow about 62#.

The SEVR™ Titanium 1.5" is a premium, rear-deploy broadhead where additional penetration is the primary goal. With a 1.5" cutting diameter and more swept-back cutting angle, the SEVR Titanium 1.5" is the ideal mechanical broadhead for the largest of big-game.

Stick with the slick tricks. Only broadhead I’ve used that I’ve had zero issues or gripes about.

The Drurys have killed a pile of Booners with expandables and both of them shoot sub 55lbs. I’m not a fixed blade fan. I would suggest trying a smaller cut rage, or any expandable that is 2” cut or smaller. The Rage Trypan is my go-to.

I would not hesitate to try expandables if I were shooting your setup.

If you're moving to mechanical I'm a huge fan of the Reapers. We've done well with the plain cheap Rage Hypodermics as well. Reapers are flat out killers though. For fixed I like the 100gr Slick Trick magnum which is probably what you're using.
