Problem is they have already been paid for the gift certificate and it makes no difference to them if he uses the GS or not. They are just trying to get a little extra out of him knowing that he probably cannot use that certificate anywhere else.

Just tell them no. And leave.

          gone are the days....
In the auto parts business, I remember when the idea of charging EVERY ticket $2 for "shop supplies" first came along (at the garages that bought from me). You'd have thought they struck gold when they first started doing this.

They gave me a quote before they started & then drove my truck around back & then told me about the $ 20 ladder fee.

Like I posted above, they do not care if they do this truck or not. If Kevin wants to pay the extra $20, they will do it, if not he can just leave and keep the gift certificate. They already have his money, job or not. they will actually be better off by not doing the job. They have the money and do not have to use the supplies.

Whats the name of the company? I say we call them and voice our opinions on their business practices.

Give the GC back to your wife and have her get a refund for it. She will understand!!! Not sure if it will work but its worth a try.

It's a shame when a (what I thought was ) good ol mom & pop outfit would do this kind of crap.
