My shoulder doesnt feel any better now my shoulder blade hurts and down my arm I didnt get much sleep last night so I'm wondering if maybe I was laying wrong.

As for the MRI they want a payment up front. I can't make any payments, I can barely put a gallon of milk in the fridge right now with my ex not paying child support or for my son's insurance. I don't even have a cell phone right now, it got soaked on tuesday. So I'm just going to have to deal with the pain.

I just had the surgery 6 weeks ago. I am in PT for another 12 weeks. Get the MRI and then have the surgery. I tried to do the PT route and tough it out. I have never felt better then after the surgery. Good lock Gen.

Gen I've had 27 injections in the last 4 years in different body parts and every shot is different in how it reacts. Sounds like you got what I called the burner, I started requesting 2 shots, first was Lidocaine and then the steroid or whatever he was shooting in that day. You will be fine in time

Put your arm in a sling for a few days and don't use it. It will make night and day difference!!! It needs to rest and recover.

Im 12 days out of shoulder surgery! I had the cortisone it killed me for 2 days! Not fun. After all that I got an MRI with contrast and they found all kinds of stuff. Small tear n the cuff, labrel tear, bone spur on the humorous, and bony growth on my clavicle. Just started pt and it's a very very painful recovery just like everyone told me. Good luck and hope your ready for next bow season! If it workmans comp.YOU HAVE TO STAY ON TOP OF THEM!!! It has been very frustrating for me Texas WC laws suck.

Mmhmm...I do not think it's normal feeling the way you described. Ive had cortisone shots in span of 6 years and five docs. They wouldn't listen to me the first time I asked for a MRI. All of them didn't believe Id need one. After my patience ran out with their incomptency, I got mad at my.last Doc. He finally submit in a MRI order for me. The result were not pretty. Doc was shocked how many tears in one shoulder I had. Two Labrum torn, 2 rotor cuffs torn at 75% each. Bicep tendon almost full torn. It was hanging on thread, literally. Had bone cyst removed on clavicle, too.

Id suggest to get MRI to be sure than to compound the issues with just steriod shots. Sorry to hear your pain. I agree Norco shdve took care of pain but doesnt sound like it is helping you at all.

If Doc says no, seek other Doc or be more stern w ur Doc in letting u get the MRI.

Took two years before I can move in full range of motion except reach my back shoulder blade and my strength has not been back. I cant do a full pushup. Not even one time. It sucks!

I also had to go back to the hospital to be put in sleep because my shoulder was already locked up after six weeks in sling after the operation. They had to pull my shoulder to break up the scar tissues. They said if that didnt work, theyd hv to open my shoulder again to scrape off the scar tissues. Lucky that I didnt need that. My shoulder surgery was my first ever operation and was a nightmare! At the same time I was a stay home dad and had to watch my 1 1/2 yrs old with diaper so Imagine trying to change dirty diaper w one hand and get new one on, feed her, bathe her. Horrible experience. We dont have family here so we had nobody to rely on to help me out with our baby girl. Hope never have to go through that ever again.

MRI shows partial tear of left rotator cuff. My doctor gave me a steroid shot spiked with lydacain. After not being able to move the arm for 4 weeks, I was able to shoot my bow the next day. He said the steroids would reduce swelling and to take anti-inflamitory pills to help keep the swelling down. This is something you definately need a specialist for.
I use Dr. Isabel from Beaumont bone and joint.
It has been three weeks and the pain is still at bay. He feels surgery is not needed as long as there is no pain and I have full use of the arm.
                    Good luck.

I have a torn cuff with scar tissue build up. Until I have surgery done I also get shots on occasion. I was told that the pain you are having is from the needle being moved around in muscle and nerve areas.

I agree on the PT part..... That crap is a waste of time for a torn cuff. Did a whole year of it and not one bit of difference. Sucks when you are trying to sleep. Only relief you can get is with your arm raised over your head.

Surgery is going to be the only fix for me. And, I bet the same on your end.

Just so you know, a lot of the time it isn't that the doc doesn't want the MRI but that insurance won't approve it. There are plenty of times I see a patient and want an MRI right then. However, most insurances won't approve it Right away unless you have certain diagnoses that would definately prove a problem needing an MRI. I can set up an MRI for Medicare without approval. For Medicaid, blue cross, and most other insurances you have to call them and get prior approval before I can set up an MRI. They generally want you to have had X-rays and a course of conservative therapy first before they will approve it. The same thing happens with CT scans. That's why if someone walks into the clinic with possible appendicitis or something that needs immediate imaging we tell them to go to the ER because the I generally can't get a scan approved for the same day. If you are in an ER then the problem is considered emergent and you get your imaging performed no questions asked. That's the joy of dealing with insurance companies. They also get to dictate what medications I can give because if it's not on their formulary and insurance won't pay any part toward it then most people won't go out and buy it themselves. Ok, I'm done with my rant now. Gen, if you are still hurting bad and the Norco isn't helping then try over the counter Ibuprofen 3 tabs every 6 hours or 4 tabs every 8 hours as needed for pain. You can also use Naproxen 1-2 tabs every 12 hours as needed. The Norco is just Hydrocodone and Tylenol and neither has any anti inflammatory properties. It really just makes you not care that it still hurts.

True. Xrays r for bones only. I had xrays taken and was told that nothing is showing up on the image, well duh! Tendons wont show up on xrays or like rotor cuffs and such. MRI will show everything that xrays wont. I know the Insurance making things tough on everybody.

I did get an x-ray done right there in the office, it so nice that they do it there and it covered under my office visit. My Doctor did want me to get an MRI but like I said before its not in the budget.

Its 2:30 now and any movement still hurts, I think I owe the swear jar about $50. I did call my doctor and the nurse just called me back and said that all he would do is call in a prescription for Tramadol which I already have for my back. I took 2 first thing this morning. I'll tough it out over the weekend and hopefully it gets better. I don't think I'll ever do this again, not for temporary relief.
