no, it was Harry my old black lab. he was a great dog. Hank needs hip surgery, he's accident prone like me and fractured his pelvis and hurt his hip bad 2 months ago. I can't afford his surgery either so I might have to put him down if I can't find someone that will take him. I'm ready for 2012 to be over.

Dangit Gen! Sounds painful. Are you hydrated? My wife takes monthly shots that I give her for RA and we have figured out that if she's a little dehydrated, it hurts a little more than it should. May be a mental thing or some other coicidence.

hmm. I have drank about 5, 16 oz bottles of water today. Right now I have a glass of orange juice. I havent had anything to eat today so I figured I should at least have something with a little sugar in it before I start to feel light headed....NO there is no vodka in it!

Thats only if I don't move it. If I move it I get a sharp pain, this is with 15mgs of norco. had one when I separated a shoulder, what you are feeling is normal, the doctor should have explained that...at least my brother does when he does a similar procedure, your arm and shoulder will actually feel like you just bowled 6 games and pitched a shutout, actually kind of surpised they didnt put you in a sling...guessing they gave you a shot at the top of the rotator cuff straight down, with a very long needle...now if this feeling persists more than 36 hours you need to call your Dr...did they give you any hydrocodone or similar

I'm not really sure where he went in from. I think it was more the side or back. not directly on top

I have some norco from when I had my back injections but its not doing a dang thing. I think I'm going to try to get some sleep but I'm not very hopeful.

ice packs, no more than 20 minutes at a time and use some sort of towel between you and the ice pack so it doesnt "burn" the skin

Even if I do need surgery there is no way I can afford it. I'm hoping I wake up tomorrow and feel 100% and that its just inflamation causing the pain and no tear.

January has really sucked bad. So far this month I've burried my grandpa, and my dog (1 week apart), badly bruised some ribs when I slipped and fell onto the side of the bathtub, messed up my ankle when I stepped off the walk way wrong, fell off my truck bumper on monday and caught my arm on the tailgate and my back/butt on the bumper and hitch and now this. It really hurts to be me sometimes and I probably shouldnt leave the house without wearing a bubble wrap suit and a helmet

FYI don't stand on a wet bumper cussing and pulling on a stuck ratchet strap. I was trying to get some slack and got more than I asked for. luckily I fell sideways and not backwards.

I've never had a problem with steroids before but I did just get one for allergies (cedar fever makes my eyes swell up) last week. I did tell him and he said it wouldnt be a big deal. I've never had the burning this long after the shot and it has me a little worried. I'll stick an ice pack on it. I have insurance but I have to meet my deductable. The insurance company doesnt make any money off of me

I went to ortho yesterday and had an injection to my left shoulder. He went in on back side of shoulder, I felt a knot of medicine go in and it hurt somewhat for 1 hr. Since then I have felt no pain from the injection but also no relief to my shoulder either. Sure hope I get some relief soon. I hope your situation gives you some relief soon!

When I went to another orthopedic doctor later, he told me that the shots seldom fix anything, just puts the surgery off for a while. I had a bone spur that was cutting my rotator cuff and by getting shots and waiting 3 years for surgery did a bunch of damage.
Exactly the same thing I'm going through now...

Get the MRI, you have insurance, you have a job, set up a payment plan. Gotta have use of your shoulder. You don't, and do even more damage, gonna cost you alot more in the end. Stubborness will cost you more in the end.

I've had steroid injections in my shoulder, heel, and ball of foot. I didn't experience any side effects with the shoulder injection, it actually did it's job and took away the pain. Now my foot was a different story...the ball of my foot was injected about 3 weeks ago and the pain was worse the day after the shot than before I got it. It took about 3 days for the pain to go away, and now it seems like the steroids are working.

That is exactly how I felt too! At the time I thought, this was the biggest mistake of my life. I was wrong

I use peas too, but neither my husband nor I like peas. We buy the cheapest ones, so if someone else sees them they will hestitate!

Deb has The best advice- most clinics and hospital will let you pay out interest free at 10% and if that doesn't work, then whatever will work for you works for them. I usually wait until I get the first bill, because the billing office is more likely to work with you- the office folks you see are under mandate to get the money up front. I met my $2k deductible by April last year, and I am still paying my portion, $100 at a time. The good news was, I had three more procedures and a CT scan after that, and all were covered 100% because I had met the deductible. You will also find the insurance company will haggle down the price too. For instance, if the MRI is $1200, you won't have to pay that- they will get it down to $500 (for instance) and that is what you pay.

So HOW DO YOU feel this morning??

I have had several cortozone shots in my shoulder and it usually takes about 3 days before it starts feeling better. Never had the burning but they do aggrivate the joint when they move the needle around in there so some pain is normal to start with. Should get better in a day or 2. keep ice on it that will help also. Good luck
