G23 here. I had an XD 45 tactical and I loved it, but I had to send it back for repair once got it back sold it, and the guy I sold it to had to send it back also. M&P's are pretty sweet too.

I have the ruger SR40. I rally like it. It has all the safety features too. Trigger safety, a flip safety, and a loaded loaded chamber indicator. 500$ and feels really good. Gets better the more I shoot it.

Same here. Love my sr40. It's no kimber but for the price you get your money's worth. Mine stays with me at all times.

XD40 here as well. I like the Glock too but the XD40 just fit my hand better and I shoot it well.

it's no surprise that no one has mentioned the S&W sigma. it's less than 300 bucks seems to function well and with an hour in time can have the trigger where it needs to be. my wife bought me one for Christmas and after 200 rounds I'm impressed. I would not carry this gun on my person but I'm a 1911 guy. for carrying in the field or as a console gun it's great.

I have one of these(USP Expert) and it's unbelievably accurate. However, It's a little pricey for what most want to spend.

I can't speak for the .40, but I have an M&P 9mm (full size) and I love it...like the trigger, like the feel of the gun. Does have a loaded chamber indicator...but that's it on mine. But they make several models with as many safeties as you want, I believe (thumb/magazine).
