looks like only 2 or 3 different deer came by in 5 days??? Heck, I can do that with corn and have hundreds of deer visit pretty much any feeder on our place in 5 days time... Unless you have some kind of dispenser that can hold several of these blocks in a chute that allows them to drop down to be exposed so the deer can get to them, but only one at a time as they are eaten, you'd have to be able to visit a spot every few days to keep deer coming to it. I don't like to go into some of my areas that often... the less human traffic the better.

I'm in agreement with you on that Charlie. I did see a picture of something exactly like what you are talking about. I bet it held at least 5 blocks. It had an enclosed chute at an angle type of hootus!

How long do the blocks you use last? Heck, other than the point of feed is small so not many animals could feed at once, that might be a good idea to try and build.

We feed our protein at the ranch in troughs and usually throw a block in each one and the animals seem to really like them. We don't have any hogs, but the deer and exotics seem to eat them pretty good.

Only a couple of weeks. Hopefully longer if we can find something to put them in.

              Very interesting. Thanks!

Mr. Bisch, thanks for your input. I agree that all blocks are not created equal. As a matter of fact, I have to wonder if some of these companies even test their product??

Somebody @ my lease uses them and puts them in a hole where half of it sticks out above the ground.

You're about the third person to mention this today. I'd never heard of doing it and it's not exactly where I'm wanting to head with my project but it must work.

                          Yep

We use purina antlermax blocks in the All Seasons block feeder and it works great...it will hold about 3 blocks at a time and is open all the way around other than the two metal straps holding the bottom on.

What about drilling a hole in it, putting an eye bolt through it, and chaining it to a tree?

You guys must have too much money to waste. Those high falutin blocks are for fancy people. A plain $5 salt block will bring in every critter in the woods for a week, even longer if it rains before the pigs destroy it.
