How Many Use Blocks to Feed Deer, Hogs or Exotics??

Im working on a little project and I'd like to know if you use them and if you do, what are your complaints???

I have found a Purina block that the hogs just love(thanks Cuz!). Problem is, they roll it around like a ball and it ends up in a puddle, in the woods or in the river.

So, who uses them and if you have a complaint, what is it??

Disclaimer: "They don't eat it" isn't a valid complaint!!!.

This is the block the hogs LOVE!!

My only complaint when I used them once was that they did not last long enough and that the animals could roll them and flip them to whereever they wanted them. I think I would buy one of the block feeders if I ever used them again

Have not tried them, but seems like a good idea.

Did you know you have a dead hog under your feeder?

That pig taking a nap is hilarious, I've used them, same complaint, they roll them over and they either break or they go through them in a couple nights. I tried staking them to the ground, they broke them off the stake. Need some kind of holder to keep them in place.

Did you lace that that block with flybait?...

We use them and they got hammered this season. They seemed to be hit if a deer showed up with no corn on the ground like at night or midday per the trail cams.....but I never saw them being eaten while on stand.

I'd like to put out some good mineral blocks this year....not just the food blocks. I just don't have any evidence of them using the apple flavored ones I bought from Academy. Seems the rain just melted what is gone from them.

I used the purina block this year, but did not leave it on the ground. I got pictures of deer, squirrels, and raccoons feeding off of it.

I used a pole bit (drill bits used to drill through telephone poles) to drill a hole right down the middle then i set it over a piece of rebar than I have driven in the ground. It seems to work well.

I have wanted to use blocks for deer during the Spring & Summer. The last block I tried was a livestock block from Tractor Supply. I bought the livestock block because it was cheaper than the wildlife blocks. I put these out last Summer and they are still lying there. Nothing has touched them.

Dig a hole and put it in the ground.

I like the rebar trick above too.

We drill holes in them and hang them about 2 feet of the ground.

I don't use them currently but have in the past. All feed blocks are not created equal! The deer would tear up one brand that I was buying at the local feed store. The feed store was closed one day so I bought a different brand at Tractor Supply. It sat there and they would not touch it. After a couple weeks I went back to the feed store and got the other brand and guess what, they started tearing it up again. I won't use them where there are pigs (my current lease) because the pigs will roll it off where you cannot even find it.

I have always put them in an old tire I have put up the salt block holders made for horses on a tree and put a block in there and the deer would lick it, but it wasn't a major draw to them, the corn was.
