Im getting 18.2 avg in my 2011 ecoboost 4 wd between highway and in town. If you keep it under 70 you can get right at 20 mpg. Only have 3200 miles so far but love it

F150 4X4 problem

Vacuums issue. The F150 uses pressure to stay in 2wd, and releases pressure to go into 4x4. When the worn out valve releases pressure it attempts to engage your 4x4 at high speed. Terrible noise! I know, my old 2005 did the same thing. Stop and it goes away. It's now engaging the hubs, so you don't feel the front end grabbing, rather it's isolated to the xcase. As mentioned previously, this seems to be a common issue. Easily diagnosed problem.
