C) if so, my mom just bought every incandescent light bulb in a 30 mile radius, so I think I must be based on lineage alone. Oh & my father-in-law still keeps his Y2K room stocked-- so God help my future children.

You don't need a tinfoil hat to be prepared. Guns and ammo are great but say your disaster was.... Losing your job? How would you take care of your family?

About this time last year I lost my job this could have been devastating to my family had i been drowning in debt as many of my friends are. I thank God's wisdom that I was blessed to have enough resources to take care of my family, mortgage, food and utilities for 5 to 6 months. By the grace of God I found a better job than the one I lost in 11 days.

My point is being prepared is more likely to pay off in the case of job loss, illness or injury than a Swine flu pandemic or nuclear attack. How many of us are truly prepared?

I want to be a preper. Starting with buying my own reloading equip so I can stockpile ammo on the cheap

Very true. Commend on you for being prepared.

Preparing can be for many reason, not for shtf scenario like many think. What many Americans dont realize what kind of food shortage we are facing because media is not telling us that.

Swine flu, a new pandemic, new strain of swine flu, called, h3n21 has an outbreak in Cali goin on right now.and can be transmitted from human to human now. Its for a fact. 21 ppl died from it and its spreading.

Always be prepared for ANY scenario.

For instance, when I started this thread about prepping, I dont understand why people stereotype tinfoil head people to people who prepare. I never said it was for the doomsday, nuclear fallout, shtf, but as you can see ppl quickly respond to a stereotype people as a nutjob. Its interesting observation at least but then again, I know they meant well when they joke about it. This is a true with most people on the outside.
