I use Ozonics and dont worry about the wind or using sprays. I use it in tree stands and pop up blinds.

What about your breath? It seams a waste of time to wear the clothing, do all of the prep and stuff when the worst offender is what's coming out of your mouth - unless you gargle with that doe urine . . .

If the wnd's not right, I don't hunt certain spots.

We are dealing with an animal the has an olfactory gland about 5" long - your durn tootin I am concerned with cover scent ! That being said, I prefer to keep my hunting clothes/boots in a tote with limbs/leaves/dirt from the ranch, seems to work real well

I always hunt in a mask and put a dropof cover scent on my mask in front of my mouth.I also try rinse with my mouth with peroxide or use gumofluage before I hunt.Breath odor is a big deal I think.Mainly because no other scent is actually propeled away from the body.
Has anybody tried the camo filter masks that look like surgical masks ?

Put your clothes and boots in a trash bag and sprinkle in about a teaspoon of buck candy. Shake it up and let it sit for a day. I did this and I had deer that would follow my trail all the way to the ladder of my stand ( a 10ft tripod) thought they were gonna lick the steps.

When air is warming it will rise and when air is cooling it will fall. It is more noticable to me when the winds are light.

I will take chances with the wind when the air is warming (usually on a cold morning) because often times the scent is lifting and will go over them. Whereas, when air is cooling (usually in the evenings) scent will fall.

Some people with a story of a deer downwind and not spooking can attribute to the air warming and thus their scent rising. I know, somebody knows somebody that had a deer downwind in the afternoon. I'm just sayin'.

All that being said, I think it is best to not take chances with the wind and not hunt a stand if the wind is wrong.

I think cover scent is a must. Deer usually spook from it, but they don't know it was human.
