    Sawsall for hogs?

Just realized it's a full moon weekend, and I invision killing a few pigs! Does anyone use a sawsall and split them down the middle after skinning? What kind of blade do I need, coarse or fine. I can see me asking at Home Depot "which cuts bone better?" Maybe buy trash bags and tarps at the same time and see what kind of looks I get?

Always, get a pack of metal blades and a full battery for your sawsall and you will be fine

Yes they work well. I use the black stone fire and rescue blades. "Almost" indestructible as far as blades are concerned

lol I use a sawsall with a course metal long blade. works great for any bone. I've never actually split a smoker hog from neck to hind quarter. I don't see why it wouldn't work. as far a teeth per inch not sure of the size I know its course metal and one of the longest ones the offer at Lowes or Home Depot

I use the metal one for deer.... For pigs I throw em on the tail gate and take back straps, the rest is pig and coyote bait.

Curious minds what to know: Why split them down the middle?

I'm guessing I won't find those at True Value?
As far as why to split, I'm hoping for some smoker sized ones. I have a lot of people wanting meat also. I'll be solo this weekend and was thinking it might be less work on me if I gut, skin, sawsall and drop In the cooler. Whoever winds up with them can worry about what they do from there. I know one guy is crazy about the ribs. The way I normally clean them "no gut method" I don't save the ribs, coyotes get them.

We do our deer that way and little pigs. I find the course blades work better and faster.

I use the big demolition blades and they run right through deer and hogs.

A good hog with some fat on it and you want to cut pork chops. Thats why i split them down the middle.

I don't get splitting them down the middle either...

I use a small Gerber hatchet that zips down the spine to get the ribs as easy as, well a zipper! and it is pretty handy for opening the pelvis too.

The answer to that is easy. Freezer space.

Does the aggessive blade leave any bone "fragments" in the meat? Just curious...
