    Work
Take care of my own yard in town.
Too much to list on work at the farm, as it is never finished.
I take stairs in my building and garage often.
    Walk the dog.
Scout the woods year round at the farm.
Stick to anything low impact. Bad knee and shoulder and tend to avoid going under the knife until there is no option.

Here are my running goals for 2012.

      1) Get my consistent mileage up around 40-45 miles per week,
      2) 2,000 miles for 2012 total,
      3) bring my minute mile paces down by one minute from 2011 best paces (for different distances),
      4) increase my long run distance from fourteen (best for 2011) to twenty-two for 2012,
      5) 5K in less than 23 minutes,
      6) 10K in less than 50 minutes,
      7) do a half marathon in less than 1:50,
      8) do a marathon in less than 4:00,
      9) if I don't enjoy myself then adjust 1-8.
      10) remain injury free.

Four days per week I work out at the local YMCA, combining weights and walking/jogging.

Home brew crossfit 3 - 4 times a week with my buddies Flipper and Alan at the "Cantina of Pain" (also known as my garage).

If any Dallas cats want to join us, we go early... Usually start around 5:00 AM.

Also recently added hot yoga for both the scenery and humiliation. Really helps open up flexibility (a weakness for me).

          This morning's workout was:

Jump rope and stretch warmup then:

20 lunges with 45 pound plate extended overhead
          5 quick pullups
10 kettlebell squat swings with 53 pound bell
          10 hanging knees to elbow

X 5 rounds with no rest... just move deliberately from set to set.

I'm nursing a medial collateral knee injury leftover from the 8 mile turkey trot at thanksgiving but for the most part, I'm pain free and in a nice groove.

2012 goal is to simply keep doing what I'm doing with consistent entries in my workout journal.

I ride a road bike almost every day. I have only been doing this for about 15 months now. I weighed 236 whern I started, I now weigh about 185. I am up to about 15mph average for 45 miles. About 17 mph average for 20 miles. I had to stop running years ago due to a back injury. What I ahve found is that biking is low impact and does not hurt me anywhere. I am 65 years old, so getting much faster than I am now is going to be a struggle.

When buying a good pair of running shoes ensure they account for your arch type, not all shoes fit every single person (ie. flat footed, low arch, medium arch, and high arch). I have a high arch, so without the proper footwear I will will succumb to shin splints as well. You should also buy new running shoes every 3-6 months if you are running regularly, especially if it's on hardball.
I am planning to do the Spartan Race "The Beast" on December 8th 2012 in Glen Rose. This thing will seperate the men from the boys!

As a 55 year old guy who sits behind a desk, I try to get in a workout of some sort 6 days a week. I run three or four days - on the others I will either swim a mile, or do a routine that involves pushups, pull ups squats and abs. When It warms up I will break out the road bike on weekends. Mixing it up so I don't get bored is key for me.
