Lease with a 2 man pit blind goes $2k to whatever you're willing to pay in CA. My son and I learned duck hunting starting with zero knowledge and a bunch of Duck Commander tapes at home getting the addiction from Phil Robertson.

We always hunt public waterfowl refuges. I'm taking my daughter's boyfriend duck hunting for the first time tomorrow. My son broke his ankle, is getting a permanent cast on it today, and says he's hunting s refuge up north tomorrow! His lab is incredible, and will retrieve the decoys at the end of the hunt. He also cadets his blind bag for my son.

i refuse to lease land to duck hunt as long as there are public refuges, lakes, rivers and bays.

Well, where is a lake or body of water around dfw with decent hunting (NO, im not asking for specific spots). Theres a lot within an hour of school but up here i havent found much that isnt crowded/private.

move towards the gulf coast and you can have all the duck hunting you can stand.

The key to public land duck hunting is to scout and get there early. One of my best duck hunts ever, public land on Lake Meredith in the panhandle, I found a pile of birds and made a game plan for the morning. Got there early and set up and had five other guys show up about 15 minutes before shooting light. I invited them to hunt with us and we shot 35 greeneads and 6 wigeon in about 30 minutes. If someone walks up on me when I'm hunting I'll invite them to join for two reasons. They have more decoys and they'd probably set up close to you and mess everything up anyway.

Also, if you feel like driving down to the coast, you're more than welcome to hunt with me anytime. I've been on them pretty descent this year. Heading out Fri-Mon. this week.

this is the key sippy. better to have strangers hunting with you than have them shooting at high birds you just about have turned to decoy. aint that right phillip.

Sorry Sip, I was thinking around college. Didn't know you was looking around DFW.

There is a big lake over in Benbrook but they probably would get mad if you put in a pit blind.

Going rate for a good flooded ricefield in the winnie area is 5000 to 6000. We pay 5500 for ours and split it between 5 of us. Still have to put in your blind and have decoys and keep up with you water all year. If you are not going to hunt alot or take people hunting with you its cheaper to higher a guide.
