Thanks for all the suggestions! Keep em coming! Looks like a dr-85 is definitely on the list though!

This, plus I would also get a Haydels DR-85. I have plenty of high end calls for both ducks and geese, but the DR-85 always stays on my lanyard. One of the first I learned to use, but it also is about as reliable as a good ol' 870. Also, because I know Cowboy as a friend of the family, the Sure Shot Game Calls Special Mallard. Soft, easy blowing double reed. One of my favorites. Both are dirt cheap and found at almost any Academy almost year round.

Haydel is one of the easiest to blow.

I prefer single reeds, but doubles are more forgiving. Once you learn to call a single will run circles around a double

The greatest thing about the DR85 is if it breaks you can buy another with a $20 bill.

SInce you can't get the original Big Guys Best anymore, my next choice would be Echo.

So what kind of ducks do you plan on shooting?

Plenty of different calls for different birds.

You can blow a teal whistle all day but if ur hunting green heads you aint gonna have alot of luck...

Duck Commander classic. No doubt! I have had mine for close to 20 years and it just gets better. Easiest to learn on. I still go to the city Park and throw pop or. And listen to the ducks to calibrate my sound.

What type ducks are you hunting? A whistle is very easy to learn, more versatile and more forgiving. REMEMBER-A duck call in the wrong hands is the most effective conservation tool ever invented.

Buck Gardner's Double Nasty 2 is a good starter call.

If you're where they want to be, best call is none at all.
