I can do the less wide square toe like the Ariat Roughstocks. Got a pair on order now. The really wide square toe is just not a look I like in boots or dress shoes for that matter. I call'em spatulla wear....looks like you are ready to flip some pancakes.
I think they are starting to go out of style. I've seen several people wearing new round toes again here lately.
The Houston Rodeo will show what the current fashion is, it starts the last week of Feb.
What? Square toes have been around for at least 150 years!
Go see Pablo Jass in Lampasas. Best I've ever seen. He was Ray Jone's aprentice for years. After Ray died his widow gave Pablo the patent on the toe bug and away he went. They are a work of art and they will last about 4 times as long as and other store boot.
Bought the first pair i saw when they first came out liked that they were different, now lots of folks where them, The old man hates em and says it looks like I stood to close to the railroad tracks and the train cut the toes off. I don't know where he comes up with the bull he says.lol
Broke Back Mountain and Square Toe Boots take off at the same time. Coincidence? I don't think so.
Now that's funny.
Can't bring myself to wear those square toes. Problem is there are few if any normal boots left. I'm just going to stick with my Justin work boots for now. Maybe this fad will fade like those big collars and leisure suits.
Like it or not, there is a lot of high dollar fashion conscious folks that roam the rodeo grounds. The first time I saw Cinch jeans and shirts was at the Houston Rodeo, Sparkly belts for men, same with Full Quill Ostrich boots back 10 years or so ago. :
Frank, Full Quill Ostrich boots have been popular a lot longer than 10 years........like 30 that I know of.
