Nope they are not waterfowl, so you can shoot lead all you want. Just dont shoot any geese or ducks that happen you fly by.

It's a good thing. You guys were making me nervous. I used lead because I just knew it said I could in the regs. And then some of you guys said I couldn't. Whew!!!

nope, as long as you're hunting ONLY sandhills, lead is legal.

Sandhilld are NOT considered Migratory, same rules as doves.

you pop a cap @ a stray goose on the same hunt, even using steel is illegal.

we used to bust the heck out of these things, we had severl conversation with different game wardens, as long as you're hunting ONLY Sandhills, you can uses lead shot.

Buddy had a box of 3 1/2" Hevishot #2's a couple years ago and I've never seen anything crush cranes like that stuff. If I was strictly chasin cranes I'd get some of that, but that would get costly in a goose spread shootin cranes as a bonus.

Used to use 3" #6 lead shells on them and they were deadly.

sorry...already in the freezer. it just looks like a turkey breast. Only darker. Soaked em in salt water and ice for a day. Kept draining the water every two hours or so. We will see how they taste.
