You can also try a LimbSaver Barrel De-Resonator. You may be able to find the sweat spot for that load.

Glen if im not mistaken ....and most times i am, i believe the 270 barrels are a 1;10 twist which usually doesnt support very heavy loads. My 25/06 will sling 90 and 100gr all day at 3/4'' but throw in a 117 federal ballistic tip and it opens back up to 2in at best.I also have a 223 barrel that im handloading for and it shoots 64 gr sierra gamekings like a champ.1/2'' if you can believe that. Weird thing is that the Gunsmith at TC told me it wouldnt shoot anything over 55grs with any kind of accuracy. If your shooting well with the 100gr then i say stick to it.

tbeak, the reason my buddy went to the trouble he did is because he already had a grand tied up in the rifle and scope and he kept trying to find a solution to a rifle that did not shoot straight. Had he known he would not find a solution, he surely would not have expended the effort or the money.
I have one of the old model Contender's with a super 14 30-30 barrell and a Leupold M8 2X scope. With a low power scope, it is not nearly as difficult to hold a full field of view on an EER scope. I bought this thing back in the summer but never shot it until two weeks ago.
With factory cheap blue box Federal 150 gr. flat nosed bullets, and also with Winchester Super X 170 gr. flat nosed bullets, I shot 18 rounds, 6 each at 50, 75, and 100 yards. Every 3 shot group was inside 3".
I am more impressed with the way this gun shoots than with any gun I own, but it is really loud because of the slow burning rifle powder. Recoil is not that bad, even with the 170's.
I would think that a 22-250 with a 14-15" barrell would be a tack driver with a scope on it.

Without any kind of custom barrel work-as a general guideline... A .270 tends to favor 130 grains of bullet. Try bench shooting a few different brands of deer loads @ 130 grains and see if which one comes with tighter groups. I would do this before coming to conclusions that its the gun..researching is half the fun anyway.
I most recently did this with a 7 mag(put a new scope on it)A "from the factory gun" -tends to favor a 160 grain)-I split the cost of 10 different boxes of ammo with someone else-turns out the 2 bullets I thought were going to be my shooters were actually the least favored by my encore! One of them was throwing 3-4" groups! I ended up going with federal premuim accubonds with sub-MOA groups. After doing this, I ended up shooting my elk @400 yrds(with correct turret adj.) -punching him exactly where I aimed.
